Amboseli national park

Amboseli national park is 392Km2 in size. The park is located in Loitoktok District, Rift Valley Province of Kenya. Amboseli National Park is about 200km from Nairobi and 75km from Namanga. The Park covers the Aberdare Mountain Ranges of Central Kenya.  It’s a home to over 600 species of birds and some animals which live in the yellow-barked acacia woodland, rocky, lava strewn thorn-bush, swamps and marshes.

Animals in this park include:  Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dogs, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Crocodile, Mongoose, Hyrax, Dik- dik, Lesser Kudu, Nocturnal Porcupine, Lions, gazelle, hyena, jackal, wildebeest, baboon buffalo, wildebeest, impala and warthog,  caracal, black faced vervet monkey and yellow baboon.
Bird species include: pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, crakes, hammerkops, Yellow-throated, chestnut-bellied and black-faced, Taita falcon, yellow weaver bird, Taveta golden weaver and superb starling

When to go
January and February June to September

By Road: from Nairobi via Namanga is 240 km on the Nairobi – Arusha Road, through Meshanani Gate.

Or you can use the road from Nairobi via Emali which is 228 km on the Nairobi – Mombasa Road.

By Air: Take a flight from Nairobi to Amboseli to the airstrip at Empusel gate
