5 Days Hiking Mount Elgon Kenya

You will enjoy and experience nature, wildlife, habit and habitat of the fauna and flora in the natural areas

Day 1: Nairobi to Mount Elgon
Departure from Nairobi towards the flow of the Great Rift Valley after breakfast, depart for Kitale. Mt. Elgon is located 420 kms from Nairobi on the western border of Kenya with Uganda, in Trans-nzoia District in the Rift Valley Province. It’s a home to over 340 bird species. Mount Elgon National Park is at 2,200m above sea level. The peak - Wagagai (4,321m) is located in Uganda. But Koitoboss Peak is located in the park, and its 4,155m high. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 2: Nature walk
After breakfast you will go for a nature walk. You will view animals like the Elephant buffaloes, waterbuck, giant forest hog, Oribi, bushback, civet, genet, wild cats, hyenas and Leopard. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 3: Begin Hiking
Breakfast and then begin hiking for 7 to 8 hours. You will have picnic lunch. During the hiking you may spot monkeys and black and white Columbus monkeys, mountain francolins, turracos and black and white casqued hornbills, will make your day. Dinner at the camp

Day 4: Koitobass Paek
Breakfast and then head for Koitobass peak the highest peak in Kenya (4,155 m). This takes about 3 to 4 hours walk to the peak and while hiking you will spot mountain francolin, guinea fowl, Malachite Sunbird. You will have lunch. Dinner and overnight at the campsite

Day 5: Descend - Nairobi
Breakfast, descend and later transfer back to Nairobi.
